Volunteer
If you're on this page, it probably means you'd like to join us here at The St. John Ambulance Brigade. It's not to hard to do, all you need to be is 18+ (under 18?) and you don't even need any medical experience.
Why Join?
Volunteer with St. John Ambulance and you'll touch the lives of many people in your local community.

Our volunteers provide First Aid at a large variety of public events. Volunteers are expertly trained to treat injuries ranging from headaches to heart attacks. They may arrange further medical assistance and transport or provide comfort and rest to people in need of prolonged care.

The objectives of the St. John Ambulance Brigade of Ireland are centred on the provision of First-Aid and Pre-Hospital services and training within the community and to assist with the smooth running of public events in a first-aid capacity.

The St. John Ambulance Brigade is a voluntary charity which could not operate without the ongoing commitment from its members. Our volunteers come from all walks of life. We have members who are doctors, paramedics and nurses but we also have philosophers, computer programmers and students in our ranks, to name but a few.

Volunteers are vital to the success of the St. John Ambulance Brigade and we welcome new members in our youth and adult ranks.
Our Work
- Weekly meetings and practice/ training sessions
- First Aid duty at major public and sporting events
- Care in the Community work
- Competitions (if you are interested)
- Further training in emergency care and treatment
What qualifications do you need?
Initially members either hold a valid, recognised first aid cert or must complete a first aid course with us. This first aid certificate is the basic requirement for membership. If you do not already have a certificate, St. John Ambulance will arrange your training and progression towards passing the course.

As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to obtain further training in emergency medical care. AED (Automated External Defibrillation) training and EFR (Emergency First Responder) training is available to volunteers if desired.
